GEM Fuel - a blended sustainable race fuel on Methanol! ![]() The benefits in engine performance, when applied correctly, are caused by two characteristics: GEM Fuel has a high Octane number and anti-knock characteristic that makes it possible to run higher engine compression. Secondly the high percentage of alcohol has a cooling effect on both intake and exhaust, which means a cooler and denser intake and cylinder charge. Both these characteristics means a higher power output at cooler temperatures. Next to very efficient engine performance from an energy storage perspective GEM Fuel scores better than most known alternatives. Simply put; every car needs to store energy independently to perform its task and the amount of energy that it can store in relation to its needs, determines its range. The key issue is carrying as much sustainable energy in the vehicle to get you from A to B. GEM Fuel outperforms regular race fuel on sustainability in two areas: CO2 reduction through sustainable feedstock and an increased biomass limit. Without sacrificing performance, GEM Fuel is a double smart advanced biofuel that makes the best use of all sustainable options out there. GEM Fuel: a blended sustainable race fuel containing gasoline, bio-ethanol and bio-methanol, a very favourable CO2 footprint and excellent performance GEM Fuel is the next generation sustainable race fuel. GEM Fuel is a ternary blend fuel containing three components: gasoline, bio-ethanol and bio-methanol making a high performing race fuel with a very sustainable profile. It sports some highly desirable characteristics; high engine efficiency and power output, an increased biomass limit and high CO2 reduction from (ISCC Certified) sustainable feedstock. All this makes GEM Fuel a truly smart advanced biofuel. The development of this unique fuel is the result of a partnership between BioMCN, Abengoa, Methanex, Eurol and the Methanol Institute initiated and managed by GUTTS, the world’s first supplier of sustainable race fuels. GEM Fuel is being use a the fuel of choice by an increasing number of race and rally series across Europe and the world. The Acropolis Rally of Greece saw the debut of GEM Fuel as the official fuel for the FIA 2013 Junior WRC. On Friday 31st of May the 10 driver making up the championship had their first taste of GEM Fuel in the pre-rally shake down and the subsequent 3 days of rallying on the toughest stages of the world. GEM Fuel proved to be as tough as the stages, providing reliable and sustainable power in dusty Greece. Before the rally got underway the Junior WRC organised a briefing session for press and other interested parties, publically introducing GEM Fuel to the world. The short version can be seen here. After all the formalities it was time to see how GEM Fuel would perform on the touch Greek stages. GUTTS and it’s partners Abengoa, BioMCN, Eurol, Methanex and the Methanol Institute, look back on a very successful launch of GEM Fuel in Greece. Edward Goossens: “We couldn’t have picked a tougher event for the debut, the Greek stages are very touch, long and hot, but the fuel proved to be a real GEM! All drivers were very happy with the efficient performance of the fuel. We will now continue to work on setting up the data analysis and research and telling the world about this amazing fuel”. GEM Fuel is a ternary blend fuel containing 37% regular gasoline, 21% bio-ethanol and 42% bio-methanol, has a largely increased biomass limit and reduces CO2 emissions by over 70% compared to regular petrol. The production and distribution of GEM Fuel is executed by GUTTS in the Netherlands. Source: http://gemfuel.com |
