AzMeCo representatives attended the event dedicated to the memory of "January 20"

On January 19, 2015, representatives of AzMeCo took part in the event dedicated to the "January 20" tragedy, held in the Lokbatan Settlemenmt of the Garadagh district. The event held at the Palace of Culture named after A.Amirov, was organized by the Executive Power of the Garadagh district.

In the night from 19 to 20 January 1990, the soviet army invading Baku massacred the civilians. As a result, 137 people were killed, 744 injured, and 841 people were illegally arrested.

The tragedy of January 20 is an aggression against the spirit of national independence of the Azerbaijani people, and at the same time it is a heroic page of our history, inscribed to the memory of our nation as indelible tragedy. That night, the Azerbaijani people have shown to the world their invincibility, faithfulness to their homeland, resolution in the struggle for independence and freedom.

At the event the dear memory of the children of our Motherland heroically sacrificed their lives for the independence and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, was honored with a minute’s silence.
